Sony Thermal Printer Problem

Sounds like you have no video input. Disconnect the video going into the back of the printer and connect it to an external monitor, make sure the BNC center pin is there and the cable is good, if you have no image then there is your problem-wherever the image is supposed to be coming from. If you have an image, then check the BNC connector on the printer for broken solder connections to the pc board

you don't tell if you are connecting the 3 equipments to the same video supply, May be there is no video signal arriving to the equipment.
You need to check compatibility between video input signal and setting of th TVP.
This can cause a ok test but no answer when you apply input signal

1) Is the paper correctly installed.


2)Check what kind of signal is coming in to the printer by the cable used (RGB, RCA,S-Video) and check with the configuration in your printer.

3) Move the control of contrast, brihgnest.

Hi Rajan,

It sounds like Thermal Head problem.If the Mainboard and video controller are bad there may be no print out and only error beep if you print.
You said it print out the paper so the input signal and Main board are OK. Only thermal head or thermal head supply is insufficient.
There is 22volt supply voltage in power supply and it also have separeate votage control at the PSW .Try measure the output of the 22V at the PSW .It is the head supply voltage if the voltage is lower than normal there may be no image or high brightness image.
And one thing try change the thermal paper if the paper are old stock or EXP then only white is comming out

Accumulation of paper dust and dirt may cause the printer not to print correctly. Please remove the blackened paper dust from the thermal head surface. Refer to the Maintenance section or Periodical Cleaning section on the user's manual for details on how to clean the thermal head.
