We have a Vela Diamond Comprehensive ventilator which has a touchscreen problem. It seems that some liquid get inside the two layer of the touchscreen. Because of this the touchscreen is totally insensible for touch.
Does anyone have some experiences whether is it possible to repair it somehow or I have to change the display?
When the touchscreens go bad it is usually best to just replace them. They are difficult to fix. We have never had any luck fixing Vela touchscreens in the past...so we just replace them. The problem though is that Viasys/Carefusion no longer sells just the touchscreen by itself. You have to purchase the entire display. But we might have 1 or 2 in our warehouse. I'll check.
The display is actually 3 parts- the LCD, backlight and touch frame. The touch frame goes around the outside of the display. This unit can be repaired especially if the problem is the LCD (moisture problem). Go to moniservinc.com start up an account. You will have to take the display out of the unit. Be especially carefull of the connectors that go to the main pcb. The small white one can be a pain to get off without breaking if possible disconnect at the other end.
I have successfully done this a dozen times the cost is around a hundred dollars plus shipping depending where you are located. Moniserv is located in the San Francisco area.
