I have Vivid 7, 2010 year, BEP4.
The problem is in black vertical splashing lines appears at a moment of starting scanning or changing depth. The lines appears at all probes.
Also during scanning the image suddenly divides by two, upper half and lover half. Lover half of image shows a copy (mirror) of upper half.
Also device may hang during software loading (at the picture with woman). Hangs occurs at random.
All voltages seems to be OK. The hard drive was changed, and software was reloaded-no results,all the same.

I suspect what the problem can be in RFI board or PC2IP board or even in BEP's motherboard.
But splashing lines may point at the problems with RLY board..
I don't know what to choose :)
I'll grab a manual and check tomorrow for you. It may be a few issues but i would re seat the front end boards to start. I'll get the specific one tomorrow. Call me 8035533108

Very, very strange behaviour...
Never seen or heard about.
But I suspect equipment might have, only, bad contact in one or more boards in the Front End.
Also, suspect external disturbance, of any kind:
Bad grounding, current leakage from Video Printer, VCR, Image Capture, Patient Monitor (or TV), No-break, whatever.
I'd checked this first, prior to open the equipment.
You said it's random, and external disturbance is very common and could justify the failure you mentioned.
Please, let us know the outcome of your research regarding undesirable presence of voltage in the equipment, would you?
