I would like to install a second CDR as a backup.
When I connect an external USB CDR it shows up as an MO drive and nothing can be written. My guess is I need to install the Win2K driver. First I would need to get to the Windows screen to do this.
Anyone have any experience or suggestions for this.
you can access to windows screen but I don't think you can have more than one CD-RW on this system. IF the Old Drive is defected simply change it with a new IDE CD-RW drive. Anyway if you need service manual I can supply you or you can download it from GE website.
Hello Hector. I have the very same problem, I need to install a new CD-RW drive via usb or any other via to Voluson 730 pro; but someone told me that the new CD writer must to be General Electric and it was going to be very expensive...Do you know if this comment about CD writer brand is correct??? Or I actually can install any CD-RW brand on this equipment?....
I really appreciate your comments.
Thank you.

So is dvd unit paired with the included board? If so, then in case that board is defective the only way around is to use an effective one...
In other words, if the board connected to the dvd-rw unit is not working we cant use an external usb writer.
