An electrosurgical unit (ESU) is a medical device used to cut, coagulate, desiccate, and fulgurate tissue during surgery. It uses high-frequency electrical energy to generate heat and cause tissue destruction. The electrical energy is delivered through an electrode, which is usually a metal wire or blade.
