INTEGRATED Healthcare Strategies, a national compensation and human resource consulting firm dedicated exclusively to healthcare, is pleased to announce the publication of a new book titled Healthcare Leadership Excellence: Creating a Career of Impact, authored by James A. Rice, PhD, an executive vice president with the firm, and Frankie Perry, RN, LFACHE, a long-serving expert in the healthcare industry.

The book, recently released and now available for purchase, was published by Health Administration Press, the publishing division of the Foundation of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), an international professional society of more than 40,000 healthcare leaders dedicated to improving healthcare delivery.

In the book, Rice and Perry motivate readers to think beyond the pressing day-to-day challenges of healthcare management and plan a career of purpose. The book describes what can be done in the present to infuse more meaning into one's professional life-at any stage in a career. The authors provide strategies for developing the leadership competencies, including self-awareness and mentoring skills, that are shared by executives who make a difference. The authors' experience and wisdom are enhanced by interviews with respected healthcare leaders who have built lasting legacies.

"We are proud of Jim for his latest contribution to the healthcare industry, sharing his extensive knowledge of and expertise in effective leadership and succession planning," said Bob Erra, president of INTEGRATED Healthcare Strategies. "And we couldn't be more pleased that the book was co-authored with a recognized and respected figure in the industry like Frankie Perry."

Rice is an internationally recognized authority on healthcare policy, governance, and strategy development. He is currently on a sabbatical from INTEGRATED while serving as a director of a large international leadership development program with Management Sciences for Health, supported by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) in Washington, DC. Dr. Rice also serves as vice chairman of The Governance Institute. He holds faculty positions at Cambridge University and the program in health administration at the University of Minnesota's School of Public Health.

Perry has held senior positions in both nursing and hospital administration. She has served as executive vice president of ACHE, as a national and international healthcare consultant, and on the board of directors of the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME). Perry received the ACHE Regent's Award in 2008 and the ACHE Lifetime Service Award in 2011. She currently serves as adjunct faculty for the University of New Mexico.
