National anesthesia company freed up to focus on growth and customer service

ATLANTA - McKesson Revenue Management Solutions (RMS) has partnered with a leading national anesthesia staffing and services company, Anesthesia Healthcare Partners (AHP), to provide a complete range of billing and accounts receivable management services for AHP's 30 service locations in eight states.

McKesson has developed a customized revenue management solution that provides coding, charge entry, claims submission and follow-up, denial management, patient call center services and business intelligence.

"This relationship provides a comprehensive, end-to-end billing solution that meets the diverse needs of all service locations," said Peggy Gaskill, AHP's chief financial officer. "The breadth and depth of McKesson's experience in anesthesia billing and its stellar reputation in the industry will help ensure that revenue management is executed in an optimal, consistent and compliant fashion. Our confidence in McKesson's abilities, in turn, will allow us to focus our energy on growing the business and servicing our clients."

In addition to enabling AHP to improve its revenue cycle capabilities, Gaskill said McKesson also will provide ancillary services that include new compliance safeguards, ongoing physician documentation education and better business reporting. McKesson's powerful reporting capabilities provide previously unavailable insight into operational and financial metrics and trends. Of particular value, she said, is McKesson Practice Focus™, a web-based reporting tool that provides a wide range of customizable business intelligence.

Pat Leonard, senior vice president and general manager, RMS, said McKesson's agreement with AHP represents the kind of flexible, customized relationships that RMS is establishing with physician groups nationwide as part of McKesson's Better Health 2020™ initiative. Better Health 2020 is designed to provide the capabilities needed to reduce costs, improve financial performance and successfully manage complex payment models.

"We are committed to helping AHP thrive by strengthening connectivity to help the organization meet the complex needs of multiple service locations in a number of states," Leonard said. "We also look forward to providing them with the business intelligence and reporting that will allow them to identify key trends and continue to expand their business."
