Janus also supports multi-system legacy and IHE PACS gateway.

San Francisco, CA and Chicago, IL - Medweb announced today the successful implementation of the Medweb Multi PACS query engine and viewer that links to multiple PACS systems throughout the Department of Defense (DoD) and Veteran Affairs (VA). The Medweb Janus Broker provides the ability to select, display, and compare the studies from different PACS located in both facilities via a single worklist that is integrated into the JANUS Joint Legacy Viewer application.

Janus is a front-end web application that provides a common data view of "view-only, real-time" patient information from separate and distinct EMR and PACS. The common view combines similar data from each health information system and displays it chronologically on a single screen, eliminating the need for clinicians to access two separate applications to obtain complete patient information or multiple PACS to display the associated imaging. The Medweb system also syncs studies for coordinated comparison viewing and 3D viewing.

"Medweb is proud to be part of the Janus project by providing a consolidated Medweb gateway, viewer and interface to the VA's and DoD's PACS," says Pete Killcommons MD, CEO of Medweb. "Our solution is also compatible with the full IHE XDS protocols as well as legacy PACS interfaces. With this integration, patients-our returning and retired soldiers-will benefit from improved safety through timely access to DoD/VA shared data and the avoidance of unnecessary tests and diagnostic procedures."

Additionally, Janus is expected to help increase efficiency, which can impact both patient and staff satisfaction, and reduce the cost of healthcare delivery. At Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) and the VA Pacific Islands Health Care System (VAPIHCS) in Honolulu, DoD and VA clinicians can view patient records and PACS imaging though Janus. Janus provides all authorized DoD Composite Health Care System (CHCS) users and VA VistA users with a combined view of DoD/VA patient data records on a single screen.

* VA Medical Center Anchorage, AK
* VA Palo Alto Hospital, Palo Alto, CA
* Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland
* Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson Hospital, AK
