Forthcoming release integrates with iSite 3.6 or IntelliSpace 4.4 PACS user interfaces

Edinburgh, UK - Blackford Analysis, a provider of software products that accelerate comparison of medical images, today announced that it has developed a new plugin for users of Philips picture archiving and communications systems.

Scheduled for release in early 2015, the Blackford Smart Localizer is designed for Philips iSite 3.6 and IntelliSpace 4.4 PACS, and facilitates radiologic comparison of imaging findings across MRI, CT and PET/CT studies by automating volume registration of current and prior imaging studies before the radiologist reads. The Blackford Smart Localizer overcomes the differences that typically exist between comparison studies performed on different modalities and by different vendors.

The Blackford Smart Localizer integrates directly into existing Philips iSite 3.6 or IntelliSpace 4.4 PACS user interfaces and enables immediate comparison of multiple imaging studies with a single click. Training is practically unnecessary as the Smart Localizer tool is logically integrated into the Philips drop-down menu and study registration occurs prior to study reading, without requiring user input.

"We are excited to offer Philips users the ability to enhance their PACS with Blackford Smart Localizer," said Dr. Ben Panter, CEO, Blackford Analysis. "In addition to accelerating reading for radiologists, referring physicians can also benefit from this intuitive tool as an adjunct to static key images when viewed with comparison studies."

The Blackford Smart Localizer can increase radiologist productivity by 10-20% per study, when reading comparison studies. For particularly challenging exams, like lung nodule comparisons, the productivity increase may reach 50%. This leads to improved clinical confidence, customer service and reading capacity, ultimately resulting in both improved quality of care and incremental revenue.

Blackford Analysis will be showing its full range of capabilities at RSNA 2014 at booth 1506 in the South Hall. To request a meeting with Blackford, please visit www.blackfordanalysis.com/event/rsna-2014/.
