The appropriate due diligence has been undertaken by both organizations as discussions continue.

“It’s an exceptional chance for growth, and positions us extremely well for the future,” said Guarneschelli.

Future arrangements still await regulatory approval.

The announcements come just a fortnight after PinnacleHealth's former President and CEO Michael Young resigned, according to Penn Live. He started his run there in 2011.

Guarneschelli replaced him after being senior vice president and chief operating officer of PinnacleHealth.

Guarneschelli spoke of the two deals in an email to employees, according to the news site, stating, “Once we made the decision to acquire the CHS hospitals, we sought an affiliation with another outstanding health system that would combine our resources to advance health care for the people of Harrisburg and the rest of central Pennsylvania."
