Inverness Medical Innovations Inc. will now be known as Alere Inc.
The Waltham, Mass.-based company said its shareholders approved the adoption of the new name during its annual stockholder meeting July 14. The point-of-care diagnostics business expects its New York Stock Exchange symbol to switch from IMA to ALR today.
The company makes pregnancy, drug use and various disease tests, and also runs a health management segment which consults with businesses to control health costs.
