The Florida Biomedical Society will be hosting its annual symposium Oct. 26-28 in Orlando at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn. This year, attendees can enjoy an Epcot food and wine festival from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, the day before the official kickoff of the event. On the morning of the 26th, networking opportunities and the potential to build bragging rights, kick into high gear with the golf tournament at Osprey Ridge. Then it’s down to business with educational opportunities and exhibitions.

Current FBS president Bill Hascup offered some further detail about what attendees can expect from the educational opportunities as well as some highlights. “We’ll be offering 20 classes during the symposium. Attendees will have the chance to attend educational courses dealing with radiology, lab, health care IT and biomed,” he said. “We’ll also have an awards luncheon on Saturday where we’ll be presenting three scholarships, in memory of past members, totaling over $2,000.”

Hascup says the event is promising to be bigger than ever with close to 100 biomeds already signed up and the exhibit hall sold out.

Among topics sure to be of major interest will be the issues surrounding CMS’ preventive maintenance directives, with a roundtable discussion slated to address the challenges and explore solutions.

While there will be plenty of career-assisting information to pick up at the event, it will wrap-up with a chance to relax and cut loose with peers. A Saturday evening Latin-themed blowout will be sure to entertain attendees with a band, food and beverages to guarantee the event ends on a high note for all in attendance.
