This recogniton is not surprising with the Methodist Hospital System's commitment to developing their students and staff with challenging career training.

In U.S News & World Report's 2006 "America's Best Hospitals" issue. Methodist is ranked in more specialties than any other hospital in Houston.

In The Methodist Hospital ranked in top 20 in five specialties: Neurology and neurosurgery; urology; ear, nose and throat; psychiatry; ophthalmology and gynecology

Of the 5,190 hospitals nationwide eligible to be ranked this year, only 176-- 3 percent-- were ranked in one or more specialties. The magazine ranked the country's top 50 hospitals in 16 specialties. Methodist has ranked consistently in a variety of clinical areas since the rankings began in 1990, and improved its previous rankings in two specialties this year.

and now onto the Education of Students and Staff:

Continuing Medical Education
As part of the world's largest medical center, The Methodist Hospital is committed to excellence in research, teaching, patient care and the advancement of the art and science of medicine. Our Office of Continuing Medical Education will provide local, national and international education concentrated in areas where our clinicians and scientists have recognized excellence and where our community has the greatest need.

Graduate Medical Education
The Methodist Hospital System has a long tradition of training physicians in various medical and surgical specialties. In April 2005, The Methodist Hospital received accreditation for the first sponsored programs in Pathology. Additional specialty programs are expected to be accredited within the year.

Nursing Education
At The Methodist Hospital, leading medicine means shaping the frontier of medical discovery and delivering the best patient care available. The comprehensive neuroscience services offered by Methodist include innovative technology and treatment options that lead medical practice. Methodist's outstanding and dedicated nursing staff has enabled our institution to remain at the frontier as leaders in the best practices in neuroscience nursing, which will be shared with other nurses through the dynamic and innovative education program that we have planned, "Wisdom from the Field: Innovations for Clinical Practice 2005."
