HCBN: What will be new at the Radiology & Imaging Conference in April?
DM:
This will be the second year of two new programs: Supplier Showcase and Reverse Leads. The Supplier Showcase allows a select number of suppliers to set up a small 10x10 booth on the first day of the conference. These suppliers have the opportunity to speak with the providers after they register for the conference for four hours on the first day. This is important for companies that have products they want to showcase or if they have new technology that needs to be demonstrated. This portion of our conference sells out very quickly because we limit the number of booths so that every company that participates has excellent traffic and has an opportunity to speak with almost every provider at the very start of the conference.

Our newest feature is the Reverse Leads program. When the suppliers register for the conference, they are asked to select categories that their products and/or services fall into. We organize each company into the categories they have selected so that the providers can plan their conference. The hospital and health care providers then get the opportunity to go on our website and select specific companies that they would like to have visit them at their booth during the Reverse Expo period. They can select companies by looking at all of the attending companies in alphabetical order, or they can list by categories. For example, if they are looking to make a purchase in the next few months in a specific category, they can choose that category and select all of the companies that serve products and/or services in that category. When the suppliers get to the conference and they pick up their badge at registration, we give them a list of providers that have requested a visit during the Reverse Expo. This gives the supplier an opportunity to go to the providers that have a definite interest in their company or product. This has been a fantastic addition to our conference experience for both providers and suppliers.

HCBN: Why did you choose St. Louis?
DM:
We hosted a conference there two years ago and it was a great experience for our attendees. St. Louis is a great city located in the middle of the country. Everyone can get there quickly and easily, and we have a beautiful hotel located right beside the world famous St. Louis Arch — the Hyatt Regency at the Arch.

HCBN: What do you hope people will take away from the spring show?
DM:
We hope that the providers walk away with new knowledge and a renewed spirit that they can take back to their facilities to lead their organizations to provide better care to their patients. We also hope they are able to build some relationships with new suppliers that will help them achieve their goals now and into the future.

We hope that the suppliers walk away with a renewed confidence in the radiology and imaging market. We know there has been a lot of change in the industry with the new health care reform law, and there continues to be change as the law is unfolding. With change comes opportunity for those companies that are willing to listen to the providers and come up with solutions to meet their changing needs or companies that are able to tweak their existing products and services to meet the new needs of the market. We are excited about the possibilities in the radiology and imaging marketplace and we look forward to seeing everyone on April 28-30 at the Hyatt at the Arch in St. Louis, Mo.
