Students who are not covered by an approved professional liability insurance plan through their college or university may be expected to purchase such coverage at a nominal fee. Students are responsible for obtaining their own housing accommodations.
Students assume responsibility for their own health care and hospitalization costs. It is strongly recommended that all students obtain health insurance. Employee health services and counseling through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will be available to students on the same basis as services are provided for employees.
Students are required to follow a dress code appropriate to the professional work involved and within the guidelines required for employees.
Vacation and Holidays
Students are allowed vacation time on Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving, time between Christmas and New Years, Labor Day, Memorial Day and Good Friday. No more than seven excused absences will be allowed during the school year for illness, job interview or personal reasons. All other absences must be made up.
Part-time Employment
Students may work part time while enrolled in the program if such employment is outside of regularly scheduled instructional time. They are encouraged to limit their employment to 12 hours weekly. If the student is employed by Affinity Health System, supervision will be under the department manager and not the Program Director.
Termination
The clinical course of study may be terminated prior to graduation for one of the following reasons:
* Failure to maintain a grade level of 70 percent in classroom and practical instruction
* Inability to perform the work of the department according to established standards
* Failure to comply with program or hospital policies
