Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island, a Care New England hospital, is one of the nation's leading specialty hospitals for women and newborns. The primary teaching affiliate of Brown Medical School for obstetrics, gynecology and newborn pediatrics, Women & Infants is the tenth largest obstetrical service in the country with more than 9,700 deliveries per year. ABOG Approved Fellowships in Obstetrics and Gynecology
Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship
The newest American Board of Gynecologists (ABOG) sanctioned subspecialty in Obstetrics and Gynecology is Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. The Center for Women's Surgery is the Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Division at Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island. The Division serves as a tertiary care center for patients referred for problems of support to the female pelvis and the associated bowel and bladder dysfunction that often accompany these support failures.

The fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery is a 36-month program. During this time fellows have rotations in Urology (2 months), Colorectal Surgery (2 months), and Gastroenterology for Women (1-2 months). There is also opportunity to obtain additional research training through the Division of Research. Research time is scheduled weekly, as well as the three months prior to completion of the third year, in order to complete the final writing of the fellowship thesis and paper for publication. Fellows actively participate in the education of the residents and medical students at Women & Infants Hospital. They are encouraged to attend all of the Medical Education Conferences, Grand Rounds, and Team Chief Conferences. In addition, the Fellows and Chief Resident on rotation present topics in Urogynecology at the monthly noontime Urogynecology conference and weekly Urogynecology Teaching Grand Rounds.

The Center for Women's Surgery at Women & Infants Hospital receives referrals from over 550 physicians' offices leading to experience to a wide variety of conditions. A full range of therapeutic modalities is offered at the Center, including behavior modification and pharmacological therapy, as well as surgery. A collaborative approach with the referring physician is an integral part of the therapeutic decision-making for each patient.
