The American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) has made TNM the language of cancer. As workflows at medical facilities have evolved from paper medical records to electronic health records (EHR), AJCC realized the need to evolve with the workflow of their users. In 2013, AJCC developed an application programming interface (API) to mirror the book version of the AJCC’s 8th edition Cancer Staging Manual to be used within EHRs with complete accuracy. The API provides updates electronically to ensure that users are utilizing the most current information possible.
