Using privacy preserving record linkage to understand deaths by political affiliation during the pandemic

The datasets the Yale researchers worked with represented millions of patients in Florida and Ohio. Using third party tools gave them the flexibility, reliability, and accuracy to ensure patient privacy and reduce data discrepancies.

Using PPRL to understand death trends among voters in Florida and Ohio revealed two important areas of consideration based on the evidence: there is an association between political party and death rates among Florida and Ohio voters, and the risk factor for death increased after vaccines were made available to the public. While the weekly COVID-19 deaths in the United States are 20% of those from one year ago, it is important to focus on the populations that may be affected by new, emerging strains.
