Hospitals can weather the turbulence of shifting federal priorities and reduced funding by stabilizing their most valuable asset: their workforce. The overreliance on expensive, inflexible travel nurse contracts is no longer sustainable whether it’s financially, culturally, or clinically. Hospitals that prioritize cultivating their local workforce, leverage technology to engage existing staff, and reserve travel nurses for true surge needs will be in the strongest position to deliver high-quality care, maintain team morale, and ensure long-term sustainability.
