Nelsen has several personal achievements as well. He has been a private pilot since 1982; has worked on sports cars and motorcycles, and still tinkers with cars. "I have two sides of my shop: one is an electronics bench, the other is the mechanic bench." Nelsen loves his shop, which his wife Patty bought for him. Another section of equipment is dedicated to ham radio, a hobby he has had since those pre-teen days.

The future of the business looks promising, Nelsen feels because people are always going to need health care. "There will always be machines to be fixed, and as far as I can see I'll have a job for the rest of my life."


Nelsen is also appreciative of his DOTmed Certification status. "That says to me someone has looked at my credentials and work and says that I am reliable and trustworthy." Nelsen feels the medical equipment business is a humanitarian one, helpful to society, and dealers who abuse customers are hurting themselves and others. "Reputations, personal and professional, must be protected and nurtured in all endeavors, as they speak volumes as to who you are, and how you do your business. This is a full time job in itself, it seems. Not everyone realizes that."
