With MiniCAT, Xoran optimized the radiation dose and image quality per ALARA for those imaging tasks. "We managed to reduce the dose several times compared to reported dosages with conventional CT" says Pedja Sukovic, President and co-founder of Xoran Technologies Inc. "The effective dose of our sinus scan for example is 0.17 mSv." The FDA estimates that the effective dose of a sinus scan on a conventional full-body CT scanner is .96 mSv, while AIM (American Imaging Management) estimates the effective dose on conventional CT to be as high as 2.0 mSv . Mayo Clinic researchers found MiniCAT CT is 10-12x less radiation than conventional CT.
