Spatial resolution

The focal spot in CT tubes has a direct impact on spatial resolution.
These parameters can be checked using the system's QA phantom to determine if the tube is meeting the manufacturer specifications.
Spatial resolution describes the degree of blurring present in an image. In a CT scanner, spatial resolution is a measurement of the scanner's ability to discriminate small objects of varying density a small distance apart (assuming a uniform background). When spatial resolution is poor, small objects close together appear as one object in the image.
