CME program for medical
imaging in clinical trials
A comprehensive education and training program has been introduced by RadMD, LLC for professionals in medical imaging for pharmaceutical, medical device and biotech clinical trials. The accredited CME certification program is offered through the Blinded Reader and Investigator Training Institute (BRITI), in partnership with the International Center for Postgraduate Medical Education (ICPME).

Lisa Schleelein, MEd, Director of CME, ICPME explains that clinical trials vastly use medical imaging to demonstrate effectiveness and the primary goal of CME is to improve patient care and provide professional development. "RadMD is contributing to the overall quality of this process with educational activities that improve the utilization, acquisition and interpretation of medical images," she said.

RadMD will offer both CME- and non-CME introductory to advanced courses for clinical trial professionals. Customized modules can also be created to specific trials or events. The curricula are designed to reduce bias, improve the reliability of data and increase accuracy of outcomes.

"The FDA emphasizes the role of training trial personnel but there are no standards in place to govern the use of medical imaging for this purpose," said Dr. Richard Patt, co-founder of RadMD. "Other companies in our industry use education as a marketing tool to sell their services; we recognize the crucial importance of independent, peer-reviewed validation for education and training."
