Hologic, Inc. nabbed an up to $15 million one-year contract to supply the military with imaging equipment, according to the Department of Defense.
Bedford, Mass.-based Hologic bested 43 other respondents to an online bid solicitation, according to the DoD. The company will supply mostly digital X-ray systems and their components to the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and civilian agencies, a spokeswoman for the DoD told DOTmed News. Material will be used domestically and overseas.
The contract, awarded in 2009, provides for up to seven, one-year options. The first option is slated to be completed by April 6, 2011. After that, the defense department could exercise the six additional options, if they're happy with Hologic's performance and they need the material, the DoD said.

Shipments will be handled by the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia, a division of the Defense Logistics Agency that purchases medical supplies, clothing and construction equipment for federal agencies and the military.
