Elekta to Host Educational Webinar on EMR Adoption for Cancer Care Providers

July 18, 2010
ATLANTA - Educating yourself and your practice on the latest HITECH news can be a daunting task. So, where should you start? Elekta Impac Software invites cancer care providers to attend a complimentary webinar outlining requirements, how centers can better prepare for implementation and recommendations for qualifying and receiving government monies.

Part of the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act offers incentives to physicians and hospitals who implement an electronic medical record (EMR) and starting in 2015, penalties for those who do not. These incentives will be issued to current users and new adopters of certified EMR systems who are able to demonstrate meaningful use.

"Research has shown that utilizing an EMR improves patient care, increases safety and simplifies compliance within the U.S. health care system," says Sima Aziz, Business Line Manager for Elekta Impac Software. "The oncology field requires specific workflows and processes unique to the profession, and it is important that sites-from practices with a single clinician to groups with more than 100 physicians-develop an implementation timeline that ensures success."
