Washington, DC - The American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS) an organization dedicated to expanding awareness of pelvic floor disorders and encouraging the original and collaborative research efforts, installed Deborah Myers, MD, FACOG, as 2010-2011 president at the AUGS 31st Annual Scientific Meeting in Long Beach, California. Dr. Myers currently holds the positions of Director of the Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery and the Program in Women's Physical Therapy both at Women and Infants Hospital. She is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

Dr. Myers has been acknowledged as a leader in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery on the national and international level. She is a graduate from the APGO-Solvay teaching scholars program and has received numerous teaching awards. Dr. Myers has lectured at conferences, annual scientific meetings, grand rounds, CME courses, and has been visiting professor, oral discussant, moderator, panel discussant, and course seminar director. Her research has been recognized a number of times by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She also serves as a reviewer for eight journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine and The American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and has co-authored 47 original publications in peer-reviewed journals, 11 other peer-reviewed publications, among others.

After receiving her medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, Dr. Myers pursued a Medical-Surgical internship at Rhode Island Hospital and her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Women & Infants Hospital. Following general obstetrics and gynecology practice at Harvard Community Health in Boston, she completed a fellowship in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at University of Connecticut in Farmington, Connecticut.
