Cedars-Sinai welcomes new department chair

The department of obstetrics and gynecology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center welcomed Dr. Sarah Kilpatrick aboard, as its new chair, the department announced Wednesday. Kilpatrick is a nationally renowned expert in maternal-fetal medicine and women's health.

Kilpatrick brings with her experience gained from the University of Illinois' College of Medicine, where she has served as vice dean and head of the university's department of obstetrics and gynecology. She spent 11 years at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she led clinical research and academic initiatives.

"Her experience and dedication to collaborative research reflects the department's commitment to remaining at the forefront of providing the highest-quality care to our patients and conducting innovative research to further our understanding of women's health and to develop new treatments," said Dr. Shlomo Melmed, senior vice president for academic affairs and dean of the medical faculty at Cedars-Sinai.

Kilpatrick specializes in high-risk pregnancy, pre-term delivery and pregnancy complications, including diabetes, hypertension and thyroid disorders.
