Allscripts-Misys Healthcare Solutions Inc.'s chief technology officer John Gomez will step down May 31 but remain as a consultant for 18 months, the company said Thursday.

The news has led some analysts to question how smoothly the integration with Eclypsis, acquired by Allscripts in a $1.3 billion all-stock deal last June, can proceed without Gomez to guide it.

According to a note from financial advisors Piper Jaffary reported by Benzinga, Gomez was the "key executive" expected to drive product integration for the two health information technology giants.
