After months of searching, Medtronic Inc. has found its new CEO.
On Wednesday, the Minnesota-based medical device giant named ex-GE Healthcare Systems chief Omar Ishrak CEO and chairman of the board.
In his role as CEO of the $12 billion division, GE Healthcare's biggest, Ishrak managed 20,000 employees. The division oversees GE's major capital equipment technologies, such as CT, MRI, X-ray, molecular imaging and ultrasound.

Ishrak has been with GE since 1995.
Current CEO William Hawkins said in December he intended to retire by April 30, the end of the company's fiscal year. However, the search for a replacement took longer than expected.
Waukesha, Wis.-based GE said Tom Gentile, vice president of GE Aviation Services, will take over for Ishrak.
Ishrak will start at Medtronic June 13.
