Ann Marie Alessi was named president of the Society of Nuclear Medicine's technologist section at SNM's 2011 annual meeting earlier this month.
Alessi, a retired first sergeant for the U.S. Army Reserves Medical Corp, also serves as product manager of nuclear medicine with Biodex Medical Systems, Inc.
Alessi said one of the goals for her new role is to better engage with members. To do that, she and the society intend to launch traveling "roadshows" for members unable to come to the bigger conferences.

"The goal for the roadshows is to offer a meeting to technologists for continuing education in parts of the country that would not usually have the opportunity to host a meeting," she said in a statement.
