ACR Names New Officers

Arl Van Moore, Jr, MD, FACR, of Charlotte, N.C., was named chair of the American College of Radiology (ACR) Board of Chancellors recently at the ACR's 83rd Annual Meeting and Chapter Leadership Conference (AMCLC).

Dr. Moore had served as vice chair of the ACR Board of Chancellors since May 2004 and is a fellow of the American College of Radiology (FACR). He also serves as chair of the ACR delegation to the American Medical Association, chair of the ACR Task Force on International Teleradiology, chair of the ACR Task Force on Disaster Preparedness, chair of the RADPAC Political Action Committee, and as vice chair of the ACR advisory committee on diagnostic imaging policy.

Dr. Moore is president of Charlotte Radiology in Charlotte, N.C., and medical director at Carolinas Medical Center School of Radiologic Technology, where he has previously served as vice chair of the department of radiology and head of the CT/ultrasound/interventional section. He is an Interventional Radiology CAQ Examiner for the American Board of Radiology and is a clinical assistant professor in the department of radiology at Duke University Medical Center.

He has served with distinction as vice-chair of the ACR Board of Chancellors as well as in a number of other important leadership roles within the college. New ACR Officers Continued
ACR BOC Vice-Chairman - James Thrall, MD, FACR, Boston, Mass., has been named vice-chair of the ACR Board of Chancellors. Dr. Thrall is chair of the ACR Commission on Molecular Imaging, a fellow of the American College of Radiology, and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of the American College of Radiology (JACR).

ACR President - James P. Borgstede, MD, FACR, Colorado Springs, Colo., has been elected president of the American College of Radiology. He is the former chair of the ACR Board of Chancellors and a former chair of the ACR Task Force on Patient Safety and the ACR Commission on Small and Rural Practice.

ACR Vice-President - The ACR Council has elected Charles D. Williams, Tallahassee, Fla., to the position of vice-president. Dr. Williams is a fellow of the American College of Radiology and is a former member of the ACR Board of Chancellors. He is also a member of the ACR Ethics Committee.

ACR Secretary Treasurer - Paul H. Ellenbogen, MD, FACR, Dallas, Texas, is now secretary treasurer of the ACR. Dr. Ellenbogen is chair of the ACR Commission on Human Resources and the ACR Governance Committee. He is also a fellow of the American College of Radiology.
