Thales QX series image
intensifiers can help enhance
image quality.
As imaging departments look for ways to utilize existing equipment yet maintain image quality, one simple upgrade may be to install a new image intensifier.
Over continued use, small detail contrast may decline and veiling glare can increase due to very thin output windows on older II units. Traditionally, contrast ratio was measured with a 3mm thick lead disk covering 10 percent of the useful entrance field of the image intensifier. For a more accurate assessment, a 10mm diameter lead disc is recommended. NEMA standard XR-16-1991 provides details on measuring contrast and veiling glare. To aid in measurements, Nuclear Associates offers a helpful tool. (Fluoro-Test Tool Model 07-645)
When replacement is needed, the Thales QX series offers many innovative features to enhance image quality including a thick, single-layer, glass output window. This unique window minimizes residual veiling glare caused by X-ray and light scatter inside the tube for excellent small-detail contrast and long-term reliability.
