Stryker Corp. said Monday that it promoted Kevin A. Lobo, the boss of the company's orthopedics division, to president and CEO of the whole business.

Lobo, 47, joined the medical device company in April last year, and most recently was president of Stryker Orthopaedics.

Before joining Stryker, Lobo held a number of executive positions in health care, consumer and industrial chemical industries. For instance, he was president of Ethicon Endo-Surgery Inc. in 2006, and of Johnson & Johnson's Canadian medical products division the year before that.
