In most cases, poor tube output causes noise in an image. To determine whether this is the case, you should use your QA phantom to measure CT numbers and standard deviations. You can determine if your tube is within specification based off this test. If you find that your tube meets OEM specifications, we recommend you check slice thickness, collimator, reconstruction algorithm and electronic noise from the detector electronics.
