President, JDI Solutions

JDI Solutions, out of Brevard, North Carolina, has been in the medical imaging business since 1996. Its founder and president, Clark Wilkins, was a Siemens Medical Systems service engineer from 1986-1996. The company provides deinstall and reinstall, sales, parts and staging/rebuilding services for Siemens MRI systems worldwide as well as magnet and mobile storage. They carry the full line of parts for most Siemens systems including Harmony and Symphony.

The company buys and sells high-end medical equipment and provides support and parts services for more than 15 ISOs including the major U.S. multi-vendor service companies. "We sell parts to every major non-Siemens service operation in the U.S. including all the other OEM third-party service centers," Wilkins said. "We don't do much direct equipment sales. We primarily support people who are in that business and try not to compete with them."

"All our parts get certified before they get sold. That's our big distinction. Our `DOA' rate is very low because we try to test everything," Wilkins said. "For example, if I sell you a given coil, I know when it was last tested. I possess the test records and I have the complete track history while it's been in our inventory, from the time it first arrived on our shelf to the time it leaves."

JDI Solutions' inventory includes well over 3,000 parts in stock. The company has three road engineers on staff.

They are making beautiful music with their business model, which now includes the short bore machines--Symphony and Harmony. "We now have 90 percent of the inventory for those systems so I expect our business is about to grow substantially year to year," Wilkins projects.

Ultimately, that quantity of business will come from the quality of JDI Solutions' parts.

"We spend more money and more time retesting and certifying parts before we put them out for sale than anybody else, except Siemens," he said.

The DOTmed 100 company is a top-rated business in the used medical equipment industry and DOTmed continues to play an important role, according to Wilkins. "We have both bought parts through DOTmed and advertised through DOTmed."
