MALVERN, Pa.--June 22, 2006--Siemens Medical Solutions has been awarded its third consecutive International Stevie(R) Award by the International Business Awards(SM) (IBA). This year, Siemens won best new product accolades for its SOMATOM(R) Definition computed tomography (CT) system, the world's first and only dual source CT system that incorporates two X-ray sources and two detectors in a single scanner. In 2005, the IBA named Siemens the most innovative company, and in 2004, honored Erich Reinhardt, Ph.D., president and CEO, with the best executive award.

This year's award-winner, the SOMATOM Definition, acquires images twice as fast as any existing multi-slice CT technology and can deliver motion-free cardiac images, independent of heart rate and without the need for medication to slow a patient's heart, as was required with previous systems. With unique dual-energy capabilities, the Definition also unlocks new possibilities in emergency radiology and may broaden the scope of clinical applications in oncology, neurology, cardiology and acute care.

"Our winning streak of three consecutive Stevie awards recognizes the company's overall strategy to lead the market and demonstrates our commitment to innovation," said Bernd Montag, president, CT Division, Siemens Medical Solutions. "This year's award showcases that Siemens is truly redefining what CT can do, enabling physicians to utilize this technology in new areas of research, bring the benefits of CT to more patients, and diagnose disease earlier and more cost effectively."
