Dunlee Glassware Tip of the Month: What is POR and why should I perform this procedure?

from the side of the gantry.
Aurora, Illinois - POR or plane of rotation is a procedure used to adjust the x-ray tube so that the fan beam is perpendicular to the axis of gantry rotation. It is an important procedure because poor POR alignments can cause calibration errors, image artifacts, or beam tracking errors. In fact, all other alignments and calibrations are based on the accuracy of this as well. You will need to perform this on several GE CT systems, including all HiSpeed/BrightSpeed and some LightSpeed* models.

An important change in the procedure involves the switch to GAFCHROMIC® film after Type 52 Polaroid film became obsolete. We have an overview on this procedure laid out in our most recent webinar. You can view this and all other recorded webinars on our Technical Resources page. If you are looking for step-by-step instructions we recommend logging in to the Tube Service Assistant.
