LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., June 30, 2006 - Canon U.S.A, Inc., today announced that its Medical Systems Division has achieved a significant corporate milestone in its storied history - the installation of its 1,000th digital radiography (DR) image sensor. The celebrated installation took place in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway's Clarian Medical Center.

Since 1998, Canon Medical Systems has introduced seven generations of flat panel sensors (the Canon CXDI-11, Canon CXDI-22, Canon CXDI-31, Canon CXDI-40G, Canon CXDI-40C, Canon CXDI-50G and now, the Canon CXDI-50C flat panel sensor), offering a full range of DR system solutions for various applications.

Canon established its reputation as a medical imaging innovator with the introduction of the industry's first portable DR system - the Canon CXDI-31 DR system - in 2001. Its full size, portable DR system - the Canon CXDI-50G DR system - is a lightweight, large imaging area (14-inch x 17-inch) DR system that was honored with a 2005 Industrial Design Excellence Award (IDEA) from the Industrial Designers Society of America and BusinessWeek Magazine. Recently, Canon Medical Systems introduced its next generation portable DR system, the Canon CXDI-50C DR system, at SCAR 2006.

Canon Medical Systems DR sensor panels are used throughout Canada, the United States and Latin America, and are part of more than 3,200 DR systems that have been installed worldwide by the Canon family of companies. Canon DR technology can be used to retrofit certain existing or new third-party radiography systems.
