Aurora, Illinois - Several customers have reported that, in addition to completing the recommended OEM planned maintenance (PM) schedules, they perform specific sections more frequently, leading to improved system reliability. We believe that performing these additional PM procedures can result in improved tube life and customer satisfaction.

For example, most scanners' heat exchangers and detectors have cooling fans that will benefit from more frequent maintenance than is recommended in OEM PM schedules. It is important to clean these filters on a monthly basis to ensure proper air flow, which will allow for efficient system cooling. Another area to check monthly is the detector faceplate. The faceplate can become contaminated with contrast and other debris and affect image quality, causing technologists to repeat patient scans. Lastly, brush blocks on the slip rings accumulate a great amount of carbon dust. By cleaning these monthly, you can avoid experiencing slip ring related problems.
