Welch Allyn, a leading medical diagnostic device company that specializes in helping clinicians improve patient outcomes, today announced that Vincent C. Caponi has been elected to its board of directors. Caponi will join eight existing directors, including co-Chairmen Eric Allyn and Peer Allyn Soderberg M.D.; Welch Allyn president and CEO, Steve Meyer; Tasha Allyn Given, Larry Buckelew, Barry Wilson, Greg Norden and Craig Reynolds.

DOTmed: Tell us a little about their personal life.
Caponi holds a master's degree in Healthcare Administration from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Arts from Xavier University. He serves on boards for Xavier University, Choice Trust, and Little Sisters of the Poor, Indiana Health Information Exchange, Indiana Hospital Association, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. Caponi is past board member for the Boy Scouts of America, and former chairman of Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School and the United Way of Central Indiana. In addition, he is actively involved with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.

DOTmed: Please highlight their work experience and background.
Caponi, currently the Executive Chairman of the Board at St. Vincent Health and a Senior Vice President at Ascension, has more than 38 years’ experience in the healthcare industry. Formerly CEO of St. Vincent Health and Ascension Health Ministry Market Leader for Indiana, Caponi developed the St. Vincent Health ministry to a 22-hospital system, and one of Indiana's largest employers. He oversaw the integration of eight critical access hospitals; multiple joint ventures; hospital expansions; and affiliations with health providers and community partners.

DOTmed: What short term and long term goals do you have for them?
“We’re very excited to have Vincent join our board of directors,” said Steve Meyer, president and CEO at Welch Allyn. “He has an extensive experience in healthcare administration which will be a great benefit to Welch Allyn during these times of rapid change in our industry”.
