Initial clinical results of Elekta's new flagship linear accelerator emerging globally
ATLANTA /PRNewswire/ -- Elekta (booth #942) will exhibit its Versa HD™ system at the 55th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), September 22-24 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. In the six months since its introduction, Versa HD has been building momentum worldwide, with clinical users reporting exceptional speed and accuracy.
Versa HD embodies Elekta's theme for this year's ASTRO, The Power of Care, which emphasizes the synergy of technology and people working together to support positive patient outcomes. Versa HD reinforces this theme through its flexibility, speed and accuracy, in addition to a series of packages (spine, breast, prostate, head & neck, lung) designed to address unique clinical challenges - making it easy to customize a system that meets clinic and patient needs. Versa HD delivers conventional therapies and treats complex cancers that require extreme accuracy - all in a single system.

Versa HD incorporates new solutions
Also to be featured as important new solutions for Versa HD will be XVI 5.0 (Elekta's X-ray volume imaging system) for intra-fraction imaging and Active Breathing Coordinator™, providing automated gating. Supporting these clinical workflows will be Identify™, which offers patient and accessory verification for users of Versa HD and other Elekta radiation therapy systems.
XVI 5.0 enables 3D and 4D intra-fraction imaging during VMAT delivery, and 2D intra-fraction imaging during static field delivery.
Active Breathing Coordinator now features automated breath hold gating for improved breast and lung radiotherapy. For anatomies affected by respiratory motion, such as lung, liver and breast, Active Breathing Coordinator provides non-invasive, internal immobilization of the target, triggering radiation delivery when the anatomy is immobilized.
Through radiofrequency identification (RFID) in real time, Identify verifies the right patient and their accessories required for treatment from the moment the patient enters the room - increasing confidence and workflow efficiency.
