DOTmed: Tell us about this purchase. The hospital is adding Brainlab's Curve™ image-guided surgery platform and 3D C-Arm navigation software to Brainlab's NaviVision® 3D navigation system.
The 3D C-Arm navigation assists surgeons during spine and trauma procedures by providing real-time navigation of intra-operative 3D datasets which are also ideal for less-invasive and complex surgery. The surgeon's use of the software results in more accurate screw placement which helps reduce reoperation rates and post-surgical fractures. In addition, the 3D C-Arm reduces radiation exposure to the patient and surgical team.
DOTmed: Why was the winner vendor chosen? In addition to a multi-directional 26" touch terminal, digital HD, Hi-Fi (high quality reproduction of sound) and Wi-Fi (wireless internet connection), the Curve™ also features:
- Surface acoustic wave technology without compromising image quality
- Independent camera stand
- Easy moving, parking and setup
- Built-in high fidelity music dock
DOTmed: Any final thoughts? The new technology will be operational October 1st.
