ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The ASRT Foundation announced today that the International Speakers Exchange Award Program has been renewed through 2014, thanks to generous financial support from Elekta.
Since becoming a sponsor in 2008, Elekta has contributed $70,000 to the ISEA program. The program facilitates cross-cultural interaction, collaboration and best practices among the world's medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals.
"Elekta's commitment to the ISEA program has allowed us to develop international partnerships and provide radiologic science professionals with the opportunity to share their expertise with colleagues around the world," said Phelosha Collaros, ASRT Foundation director.

Each year the Foundation considers proposals and selects U.S.-based ASRT members to speak on behalf of the radiologic technology profession at one of two international meetings: the United Kingdom Radiologic Congress and the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists Annual General Conference.
"The opportunity to facilitate the international exchange of ideas and best practices is very much in harmony with Elekta's mission to improve, prolong and save the lives of patients wherever they are in the world," says Jay Hoey, executive vice president, Elekta North America. "The ASRT Foundation's International Speakers Exchange Award Program is a worthy recipient of annual support to help disseminate information in our discipline, which ultimately benefits patients - the focus of our joint efforts."
ISEA applicant selection is based on the following criteria:
Preparedness for presenting a topic that is relevant to the conference's theme or audience and is of interest to an international audience.
Significance and potential impact of the proposed presentation topic.
Ability to continue research and writing on the proposed presentation topic.
The deadline for applications for the 2014 ISEA program was Oct. 1. Selected recipients will be announced before Jan. 1, 2014.
Applications for the 2015 ISEA program will be available next summer. View the ISEA Rules and Instructions for detailed information about applying to the program.
