The latest jobs report — which came out late this month due to the government shutdown — finds that employment in health care changed little, with only 7,000 jobs added in September.
Historically, the health care sector has added more jobs to the U.S. employment situation, but that has not been the case for the past couple of months.
According to the September report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate overall remained the same at about 7.2 percent.

So far, health care has added an average of 19,000 jobs per month for 2013, compared with an average monthly increase of 27,000 in 2012, according to the report.
The areas where employment did increase were construction, wholesale trade, transportation and warehousing.
