Q&A with Janice Nevin, CMO of Christiana Care Health System

by Sean Ruck, Contributing Editor | November 12, 2014
From the October 2014 issue of HealthCare Business News magazine

HCBN: What are Christiana Care’s future plans for expansion?
JN:
We are committed to a culture change that transforms our organization from a volume-based system to a value-based system. This is about creating a culture of health. Our definition of value has always been from the perspective of our neighbors — how do we provide care that is effective, affordable and allows our neighbors to lead the lives they wish to live. We know that we need to continue to focus on a population health model that results in personalized care and we are committed to Delaware’s triple aim of becoming one of the healthiest states in the country reflected in top quality measures and reduced costs.

HCBN: What are your plans for the future of the system?
JN:
These are very exciting times for health care. There’s a great opportunity for us to deepen our partnership with our community to design a system of care that meets their needs. Our way of meeting those needs is best expressed in The Christiana Care Way, which describes our mission of service. We serve our neighbors as respectful, expert, caring partners in their health. We do this by creating innovative, effective, affordable systems of care that our neighbors value. As a long time Delaware resident, leading Christiana Care Health System provides me the privilege of serving the community that has given so much to me and my family.
