Phlebotomy Training
Advances in health care have increased the need for highly skilled Phlebotomists. Career opportunities currently exceed the supply of well-trained, motivated professionals in this essential role.
To accommodate for this high demand, Noyes Memorial Hospital offers a Phlebotomy Training Program. This program trains students to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to properly collect blood for laboratory analysis. Students completing the course will also have the knowledge and skills needed to sit for the national certifying examination of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) for Phlebotomy Technicians.

What Does A Phlebotomist Do?
* Collects legal samples for urine drug screen testing.
* Complies with health care safety regulations.
* Draws blood samples for testing.
* Maintains safe working conditions.
* Participates in continuing education programs.
* Participates in quality improvement program.
* Performs laboratory computer operations.
* Promotes good public relations with patients and hospital personnel.
* Stays current on new policies and procedures relating to phlebotomy.
Program Specifics
* Tuition is $550.
* Each student attends 100 Hours of lecture.
* Each student receives 256 Hours of clinical experience, working one-on-one with a member of the clinical faculty.
* Each successful student receives a certificate upon program completion.
* The program has recieved NAACLS(The National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences)approval as an educational program for phlebotomy.
* The program is ten weeks long
Academic Entrance Requirements
All of the following academic requirements must be completed prior to registration:
* Computer Science course with a minimum average of "C".
* Course work in biology, chemistry, and math.
* Demonstrated a better-than-average attendance record throughout high school.
* High school diploma or GED.
* Minimum high school average of "C".
* Minimum science and math average of "C".
Medical Requirements
All of the following medical requirements must be completed prior to the first day of classes:
* All students must have documented health insurance.
* Completed health examination form.
* Completed PPD testing.
* Proof of current immunizations.
Application Requirements
Applicants will be selected for admission to the program after evaluation of all application requirements:
* Completed application.
* Official college transcripts for any college courses taken.
