CERC is also conducting other studies involving a few other specialties and the results will be available sometime next year.

The Peterson Center on Healthcare has also partnered with Kaiser Family Foundation to create a new digital platform called the Peterson-Kaiser Health System Tracker to evaluate the performance of the U.S. health care system, which went live on Thursday.

The tracker analyzes how the U.S. health care system is performing in terms of both cost and quality and also provides information on trends, drivers and issues that affect the system. It also compares U.S. health spending to other countries' spending.

"I think what we see is that we spend a lot more money than any other country in the world, but interestingly we don't have as good outcomes with regard to mortality and life expectancy," said Selberg.

The center also collaborated with the National Quality Forum to bring together public and private sector leaders to determine actions that can be taken to make data and analytics more available to improve support systems in health care. The results will be used to improve data transparency and usability and spread the best practices on health data.
