Darrel Kile, DOTmed
Certified manager at
Classic Diagnostic Imaging
Classic Diagnostic Imaging, Solon, Ohio focuses on the imaging equipment parts market. They do deinstallations of rooms and equipment, and they are moving into refurbishing for customers including mainly end users. "What we do is call on the hospitals and form a relationship with the techs working on the imaging equipment so when they have a problem they call us for help," said
Darrel Kile, the company's equipment manager. Kile is newly DOTmed Certified, joining the ranks of 50 individuals who have earned the designation.
"We do the tech support. If they have a problem they can call us and we walk them through the problem, find what's causing it and tell them how to fix it," Kile said. "That's what separates us from other parts companies because a lot of parts companies will charge you for that tech support--if they can even provide it to begin with."

"We don't do service. We do tech support. We don't send people out in the field to wrench on anything," Kile explained. The technical staff at the company takes courses at Radiological Service Training Institute (RSTI), the multi-vendor training center. "They train on anything from Rad rooms to ultrasound to mammography, PACS systems. They teach the techs how to tear down, put it back together, make it work, and trouble shoot."
"The main focus of our business right now is definitely the end user. We introduce ourselves, let them know what types of parts we can get them, and then when they have a problem they call us."
The parts inventory comes from old equipment that they tear down. Having sold parts for 20 years, Kile knows what to look for. And DOTmed fills in as an important resource.
"When I'm looking for something that I don't have in inventory it gives me an idea of who to call for it. It has linked me up with a few people that I now do a lot of business with that I didn't even know before. It has really helped me a lot," Kile says of DOTmed. "Not to mention it gives me the opportunity to put my inventory up there and makes it an easier search for my customer to get to me."
