Toshiba's Aquilion Lightning
Toshiba Medical Systems has announced it will showcase its new Aquilion Lightning CT scanner at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) in March.
The company issued a press release stating the 16-row spiral CT has the world's smallest detector element for routine isotropic imaging, at 0.5mm.
The system comes equipped with AIDR 3D Enhanced, which allows for dose reducing iterative reconstruction while retaining excellent imaging quality. AIDR 3D also eliminates the need for cooling time, which means a facility can increase CT throughput.

It also features SEMAR (Single-Energy Metal Artifact Reduction), Toshiba's trademark tool for visualization of implants, and clearer diagnoses.
The system has the smallest footprint in its segment while having the largest gantry aperture. Toshiba says that means it can be installed in smaller rooms while still offering a pleasant work environment.
The ECR is the annual meeting of the European Society of Radiology and the 2015 show will take place March 4th through 8th in Vienna, Austria.
