Orthopedic Surgery

The Orthopedic Surgery residency program at MCRMC is designed to provide ample operative and clinical exposure in preparation for a practice in general orthopedic surgery. The residency also provides a solid foundation for those interested in further training and expertise through fellowship programs. Graduates from MCRMCs Orthopedic Surgery residency have gone on to fellowships in hand, pediatric orthopedics and sports medicine.

Residency program features include:

* Orthopedic surgical cases per year:2,695
* Affiliations Childrens Hospital, New Orleans; Michigan State University
* Anatomy course Michigan State University
* Research in spine, pain management, and other areas

Program didactics include:

* Daily morning report and film review 06:15
* Monthly journal club
* Grand rounds monthly
* Lectures twice weekly (Tuesdays and Thursdays)
* Journal review (Fridays)
* Monthly Educational Day through Statewide Campus System Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Duration of program: 4 years
Number of AOA-approved positions: 16
Call requirements: graduated call

* PGY2: block days and nights
* PGY3: weekends
* PGY4: weekends
* PGY5: weekends
